CNN is saying he's not dead, but in a coma, and "it's not looking good". But the LA Times and CBS
news says he has died.
EDIT: The LA Coroner has confirmed Jackson is dead. Sean

Celebrities tend to die in sets of 3. First it was Ed McMahan, then Farah Fawcett then Michael Jackson.
I was never a fan of his music, though I do remember the premiere of the Thriller video on MTV, people were having parties for that stupid thing and it was like 20 minutes long. The guy had serious issues, he was a freak, and allegedly a pedophile, did he deserve to die...... um probably not. He was very young to go, I imagine they'll find out all his cosmetic surgery had something to do with his death. I guess he was important to the world for his music, but who isn't, and why is his death ANY more tragic than anyone else who died today??? I'm not a cold hearted person, I just think the world should deal with bigger issues than the death of Michael Jackson. |

Well if you have looked into his history you would know that he contributed alot to humanity throughout his career. For example after 9/11 he started a charity
that I believe was donated to the victims of the 9/11 attacks. But he also did alot of other things for his fellow human beings as well.

Of course he has helped mankind, I'm not saying he's a bad guy or comparing him to someone like Hitler because he's a freak. He was a generous man
to many, but was it because he had so much to try to make up for or was it truly just part of his nature. Honestly, the charity thing isn't the issue. Many
honest people donate to charities or even start them. My family donates to major charities (St. Judes and Ronald McDonald House are the main ones) and no one
in my family owns giraffes, chimps or wants to buy John Merrick's skeleton. Will my death be front page news? Absolutely not!! Does this make me any more
or less of a person, absolutely not.
It's a big shock when someone so prominent in culture dies or does something horrible, but to make such a big deal of it, in my opinion, is a waste of time. How about everyone who is so saddened by his passing take the same effort and time they use to mourn him and use it for something constructive that will better mankind. This is just my two cents on the subject. My day has not changed for the better or worse knowing that he died. It is sad, his young children and the rest of his family will miss him terribly and he will never make another album, but life goes on just as it has since the beginning. |

GreenEyedMonster wrote:Once you do something of merit on a worldwide scale, people acknowledge and pay respect to that person on a larger scale than your average Joe. It's common sense man. I understand he was not your cup of tea, but do a little research beyond the tabloids and you'll see a truly gifted entertainer that changed the music industry and left a lasting impression on millions. Not everyone can claim that at their death. -Rue |

yeah, MJ was an amazing entertainer(in videos and music); I was actually waiting for the rumored Jackson 5 reunion.

Well, people have been asking that question a lot: Why is his death such a big deal?
And I'm sorry, but I can't see it otherwise... Michael Jackson's music was a part of everyone's lives, whether you were a fan of his music or not. His music was (is) everywhere, and I know I have dozens of memories that include his music in some way or another, it's just a small part of our stupid, insignificant human Universe. Whether he was a pedophile or not, we'll never know for sure, but who he was makes no difference and should not affect his musical legacy. Sure, people are dying everywhere, and we're having tension between many countries with nuclear weapons, and yes, of course that should be more relevant, but people tend to run and hide from those worries by turning to people like Michael Jackson, who will distract us, and losing him is kind of like losing a little, tiny piece of our identity. Surely if some alien race came to visit us now and asked us to show them a bit of what mankind is, Michael Jackson would be included in the description, it's popular culture! So yes, I will miss the dude, as an entertainer I did admire him, what he did, the icon he was, the music he created, the memories he gave me with my friends... I do feel his loss in a small place in my heart |

I've always liked a lot of his songs, I liked his early r&b flavored stuff the best.
As for the pedophile crap some are spewing on sites like Facebook, it has always been nothing more than accusations without any credible proof. I won't get into all of that, but if one wants to dig it up, just hit wikipedia. There's tons of info there, and it seems pretty non biased. As for his career, I had nothing but respect for the man. Thriller has sold over 100 million copies, and he didn't have to flash his privates, urinate in an airplane, beat up security guards in order to do so. He sold that many albums purely on his music and live performances. We'll never see another pop star achieve what he did in the past. And I doubt any album will ever beat Thriller for the #1 spot. I'll miss the dude, he was always entertaining. The good ol days..
Personally, the 80's was my favorite era of music. It wasn't all good, but it was a hell of a lot better than the 90's and this lameo decade. |

Comparisons are interesting. Actually, Hitler was ironically kind to animals....regardless of him being a disgusting example.Someone of note has passed away.
We will never know the full truth of the accusations against MJ.

I never believed Michael was a child molestor. I can understand that children are less judgmental so it was very pleasant for him to be around kids. Adults
were judging him so much. I see all that as a social isssue for him. I understood him to be a very insecure, fragile guy who was very much afffected by
public judgement and the proof of that was all the surgeries, etc., Now, those are just my thoughts.
Very sad news today. His music was awesome. |

It's very sad news...
All world is crying after his death. I don't like speculations. If his family will want to inform fans what was the real reason of his deaths they will do it. |
