Excellent post. I was just going to say:
...remember, every day millions of animals are treated far wore than this kitten was, and too few notice. One big reason being that they aren't as cute as the kitten... another indication that people are 'conditioned' by society when they ignore torture and abuse of specific animals (or certain people/countries/races/sexual orientations, etc), and support it by eating meat, and only notice the abuse when it's a cute kitten or baby seal. Just a general statement aimed at society, no one here.

And, as was said, this sort of animal abuse is far more common than most people think (even President Bush was said to have killed frogs with firecrackers). And the arrogance and ego of many people today (especially many kids) makes them think they can do anything, they are always right, that they can get away with anything, etc (look at her myspace page- it's similar to nearly every other kid's MySpace page, though actually it doesn't even display as much ego and arrogance that you normally see). People are being conditioned to be without feelings, that power and greed is a positive thing, that their actions have no consequences, that they don't have to think or be informed or care- just that they are always right, yet based on nothing other than their ego.

Instant gratification is what people expect, without consequences. Studies have found that the internet is actually making this instant gratification expectation worse with kids now. Too bad people don't use the internet to learn, just to satisfy their ego, greed or vanity. And it's helping to shape generations of kids to be unthinking consumers without conscience, abusers, and/or sociopaths. And this girl is an another indication of that general trend to be self obsessed. Sad story.
