To be honest, I've read some material and I've made the conclusion that this diet's very expensive for common russian citizen.

I don't think it sounds too satisfying. Lately, I've been wondering how to manage a high protein/low carb vegan diet. There really aren't that
many protein selections that I know of. How much tofu could a person endure?

In my opinion a well-balanced diet looks different. Relative to the supplying of proteins I also see some problems. In addition to tofu, nuts and seeds also
contain relevant amounts of proteins ( but you should eat about 200/300 gram per day!). I do not know how long you could endure that.
For my taste it sounds unbalanced...and boring. |

Tonya Kay is a famous raw vegan.
Here's her youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/PureRenegade And her website: http://www.tonyakay.com/ A wiki article about raw veganism: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_veganism |

Thanks for replies and the links!
Well, the interesting thing in all of these materials is that no any resource gives the information how this diet can influence bad on organism. Anyway I don't think that it is so healthy at all. It's better to choose to be vegan in my opinion, though it's rather hard to begin with. But I think at first I can eclude diary products ( the describtion of what happens inside when it gets into the organism has impressed me).

Nicolya, there are reasons to assume that raw foodism is the only natural diet for humans. The primary reason is that there's no other animal but a human
who cooks something before eating it. If we exclude the cooking process from our lives it will turn out that raw meat, raw potatoes, raw rice and other
products of this kind are not consumable nor healthy at all. We will only have the products that raw vegetarians eat. Though if we consider existing studies
and researches it will also turn out that raw consumable products like milk, eggs and basically the most animal products are harmful for human health. Raw
veganism seems to be the only healthy and compassionate solution because being a raw vegan you only eat fruits, veggies, nuts and some other plants - the
products which satisfly all nutritional needs and which have no harmful impact on human health. The only problem with raw veganism so far is the possible lack
of vitamin B12, but the same problem applies to veganism. Though various supplements of the vitamin can be used.

RAW- It's got me interested. It's not that different from how I eat now - but it would be hard to give up baked potatoes. (my favorite food).

When I was a kid, I loved to eat raw potatoes, but mom always prohibited that. So, it wouldn't be a problem. But I guess my organism won't be
satisfied!
I love fried potatoes, favorite food as well

Nicolya wrote:Me too! I have a good recipe of potato cutlets As to living and raw foods, I have always liked raw carrot. I can eat it non-stop. Same for the nuts The only problem I could have had if I chose this diet is mushrooms. The most of them was grown in less clean environment conditions, while fully organic food is quite expensive here (in Russia). Anyway- the way out can be always found. What about the Green Room where you're able to grow your own food without chemicals?

I wouldnt call it "a step back in evolution". When someone doesnt drink no one says its a step back in evolution.
Talking about the life period, there's a variety of reasons it could have happened. But today I think its pretty hard to tell about the lifestyles people have had before they started eating meat, cooking, etc. Some say that veganism/vegetarianism is a step back in evolution too, but studies proved that vegetarians and vegans live longer than meat eaters and that they are healthier in general. I just found 2 websites containing links to summaries of some researches related to raw foodism and veganism: http://members.iinet.net.au/~pgraham/rawfoodstudies.htm http://www.beyondveg.com/cat/links-out/raw-research.shtml Also, here's a direct link to Tonya Kay's playlist on YT which is dedicated to her raw veganism http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=65C160A64B8878B3

Nicolya wrote:I would not go so far to say that this diet is not healthy or even unhealthy. If you keep an eye on the selection of foodstuffs (and you need to do) it should be possible to take in all essential nutrients. I myself just could not keep it up for a long time. The consumption of some foods (potatoes, string beans, some pulses) in natural state is not advisable because they could have a toxic effect ( that must not be, but it is quite possible). I cannot imagine to give them up permanently. In combination with my allergies to some raw fruits and vegetables I would quickly loose the pleasure of eating! Because of that this diet would not work for me. |

I usually keep up to a 70% Raw Vegan diet, and an even higher percentage when I do competitions. Most of my
Protein is supplemented from Raw Hemp (main), Chlorella and Spirulina. I do realize that I have it much easier that most people since produce stores are only
walking distance away, as well as the Farmer's Market/CO-OP that I belong to for all of my organic fruits/Vegs: Not too mention, there are Two really good
raw restaurants close by my house.
I find such change greatly improved my energy throughout my day, and more stamina in my workouts I was able to cut back on coffee and
a lot of Caffeine that used to drink. I still have one cup of coffee once in a while, though now I much prefer my organic "gunpowder" green tea!
I still eat a lot different types of beans as well as potatoes, brown rice and Whole wheat bread/pita breads to keep a "good balance". I still eat all soy products tempeh, tofu, soy milk (Soy Ice Cream ) and seitan; but not as much lately. Of course, I enjoy falafels and hummus...lentils...I actually just learned how to make "lentil
loafs." I do get a lot of B-vitamins through Chlorella and Spirulina but I still
like oats and brown rice on occasions. Diet and eating for me is "by the numbers" most of the time, meaning the constant counting of: fats,
vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, and nutrients.

Karina Blood wrote: YES, Olya! The ideal perfect thing to do is start a green house; as I have been reading up on it lately. The really nice green houses can support food year round. I have done indoor growing techniques in the past, such as hydroponic and the result is fantastic! It does use quite a bit of electricity to do, but I figure in time, the solar and wind power technologies would improve good enough to compensate for the extra Watts of electricity used. I Green house are nice if you have the extra space. I read and hear of another tend of people getting rid of their yards and plant large gardens instead. I sometimes wish to leave the city and just grow organic foods once again.

Nicolya wrote:Not actually garden, because living in stone jungles (especially, in such megapolices like Moscow or Saint-Petersburg) we don't have such opportunity. It's not a suitable land for cultivating vegetables and fruits there. Starting a green room in an apartment can be surprisingly effective. I learnt some facts about it at conference on financial crisis that I visited some weeks ago. Growing your own food is not only cheaper and better for your health, but it's also 'income-generating production' (you can make exchanges or sell out the products). I know that Germany made a few perceptible steps in this direction, but you better find more information in the web.
