Yeah, it would be easy to give up and think it impossible to reject nuclear energy completely. How lazy that is. We just need to support the right entities. It IS possible to make the switch to wind and solar power if only people would insist upon it and stop thinking it is out of reach. It is only as out of reach as WE decide it is.
That's true to an extent, but is still vague and hard to act upon. It's a bit like saying, "cures for aids and cancer and world hunger are only as out of reach as we think they are!" A good sentiment, to be sure, but it's something easy to say but hard to do. If we want to talk about engineering hurdles that's one thing, but saying that a technical problem is merely one of motivation is neither realistic nor helpful, because something's still missing.

Sadly, I think this can be said about nearly every problem in our world. The problem seems to be that "the people" are willfully stupid and allow the corrupt politicians and greedy corporations to rule in the first place, and seem happiest this way. If they aren't happy with it, why do they put the same kinds of people in charge after each "revolution"? I'm not a nihilist, because I believe that it is right and good to promote environmental protection, human rights and peace, but I guess I'm just a little bitter and have a feeling that it'll be a long time before any significant and lasting positive change occurs in our world. But does this mean I'm gonna give up and not do my part to the best of my ability? Hell no.
