thankyou, both, for your replies.it is interesting to read of your experiences.i feel compassion for you both.
i would never take pharmacueticals for this mood disorder.from what you've both described, they don't seem to help.the side effects sound awful ,along with the'artificial happiness'.i understand that anti depressants purportedly correct a neurotransmitter deficit.but it seems they go for overkill.i do hope you both tapered off the drugs slowly,as going cold turkey can be dangerous.
i'd read 2 books on st john's wort written by medical doctors.as well, here is this site:[i am using this product].

also, this site has tons of articles written by orthomolecular doctors, who ARE MD'S.

the doses of vitamins needed are mega doses.the vitamins in question are water soluble and in the case of vit b3[niacin],one would have to take a 1/2 of it a day to become toxic.symptoms of nausea would appear long before this.but with the doses recommended[3 grams, devided into 1 gram each 3 times daily after meals],there is no toxity;as well, there is some flushing at 1st,but this helps to lower cholesterol.
by nature,i am a happy person and take pleasure in the smallest things.i am easily excited and facinated by life in general.i'd never had a melancholy personality.lol,i am neurotic and worry a lot,but this never caused a depressed mood before.
i have been sleeping better the last week and appetite is returning.the vegetative aspects are more normal,in other words.but the poor mood remains, with extreme anxiety often part of the picture.
i will discuss all this with the therapist.i had discussed it with my PCP,who'd recommended that i see a councelor.she also felt i didnt need pharmacuetical anti depressants.she wasn't concerned about the st john's wort or the orthomolecular program.personally,i feel drugs are far more dangerous..and don't treat the underlying cause.
devinedarkness74,i will email you.thankyou so much for your concern.
