I loved his music, I've been one of his biggest fans since I was 6 years old. I think he's one of the most talented entertainers in the world and I will always remember him for that! <3

I wasn't a fan of his but it's very sad to hear...
I heard the news at work on the radio, and they opened up the lines to allow callers to comment on it. Several people said many unkind words about his death and him in general, that was also pretty sad to hear. I personally don't believe he was a pedophile or whatever else he was accused of and portrayed as by the media. |

Oh...it was very sad news for me, though I was not a his huge fan. But he was very talented and amazing. He is a legend. He has brought the huge contribution
to world music. He never will be forgotten.

the magazines show how pathetic humanity is, a couple of months ago people were saying such bad things, now everybody loves him
...everybody loved the bad rumours about him, he had to go through so much...and now yes, everybody praises him and his influence ( AND I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE HERE)...i feel sad for him, and that the last years of his life were like that-R.I.P |

There was a good interview on Keith Olberman's show yesterday with one of Jackson's friends,
where he talked about how Jackson had been abused and fed drugs by the industry (something I mentioned in the porn and Manson thread a week ago), talked about
his self esteem issues, etc. Very significant, citing drug problems, abuse, etc, all leading Jackson to have a fairly screwed up life.
There was an interview on the day of Jackson's death with Al Sharpton where he cited the fact that everyone shunned Jackson until he died, then suddenly everyone is praising him. Sean |

This.... I haven't wanted to talk about this, because part of me, the post-modern part of me, says "what is dead?" Part of me... MJ was my
favorite as a kid (Thriller, I was always a little morbid, I guess, because I love, love, loved that video) and I'm devastated. I never believed he did
those things they said he did. He was a great entertainer, one of the true pop geniuses. There are three perfect albums of the era, as far as I am concerned.
Prince's Purple Rain, MJ's Thriller, and Maiden's Powerslave. (Thriller is 82, the others are 84) Um, other than The Girl is Mine. That song blows
chunks.

This lil news story came out today, not sure if the mainstream networks have picked it up or not yet..
After the sudden death of Michael Jackson Evan Chandler tells the truth. In 1993, Chandler told a psychiatrist and police that he and Jackson had engaged in sexual acts that included oral sex, the boy gave detailed description of Jackson's genitals. The case was settled out of court for a reported $22 million, but the strain led Jackson to begin taking painkillers. Eventually he became addicted. Now maybe for the remorse of his death Chandler decides to tell us the truth. " I never meant to lie and destroy Michael Jackson but my father made me to tell only lies. Now i can't tell Michael how much i'm sorry and if he will forgive me ".Evan Chandler was tape-recorded saying amongst other things, "If I go through with this, I win big-time. There's no way I lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever… Under the influence of a controversial father (Jordan Chandler) told his son to tell that Jackson had touched his penis. Jordan Chandler then told a
psychiatrist and later police that he and Jackson had engaged in acts of kissing, masturbation and oral sex, as well as giving a detailed description of what
he alleged were the singer's genitals.

Yeah, that first family were supposedly con-artists, but what is the source of this article? And of course anyone in the public eye, especially someone as
known and wealthy (at the time) as Jackson would invite endless attempts at blackmail and/or exploitation.

The story was on some random news site this morning, now its on tons of blogs. But so far it seems may be a hoax, specially since the mainstream news channels
haven't touched it yet. Hell, when TMZ doesn't touch something like this, something ain't right.

Joe Jackson makes me ill. He's working the media. His responses are strange for a man who just lost his son.

Joe Jackson turned those boys into musical soldiers. The Jacksons haven't done a live performance since 2001. But tonight when they performed on the BET
awards, it was like they never stopped performing together. It was a great performance of ABC, and the choregraphy was even pretty damn good for a bunch of men
pushing 60, if not being over 60.
There's two performances above, the Jacksons doing ABC, and Jamie Fox doing 'I'll be there'. I'm not sure who the singer is performing with Jamie though. But overall, it was 3 hours of pretty good dedications, and most of the performers seemed totally sincere about their feelings of loss. |

The saddest thing is actually when we look back on the life he had. No life at all that you would wish upon anyone. I mean, from childhood on he was forced
into a role of star, always in the spotlights, never having a bit of time for a normal childhood. Throughout his life he was always followed by media in every
step he took, he hardly had any time to breathe if you know what I mean. Then came the ill health, the courtcases (which, until proof of sexual abuse is given,
IMO should be classified as shameless attempts to cash in on someone's wealth and success) ... He was never left alone and the world always forced him into
a life few would cope with. If the rumours are true that he was given overdosage of meds to prepare him for the concert series in London, then we can say he
died in the same way as he was lived: people trying to cash in on his stardom, even neglecting his wellbeing as long as they could present him as a star and
cash in on that. Michael Jackson lived a life in which he was never left alone, I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.
I hope the world will remember his music and not remember him for anything that happened off stage. RIP. PS: the same day as Farrah and MJ, Belgian TV host and singer Yasmine died. She committed suicide at age 37 by hanging herself from a tree. Due to the language barrier (her songs were all in Dutch, some were her own compositions and she also did a set of covers of Leonard Cohen in Dutch) she may not be very well known abroad, in Belgium she was a popular TV host and singer and a very prominant face within the lesbian community. Since her wife left her last year she sunk into depression and eventually took her own life. Ironically one of her best songs is called "Dromen van het Leven" (= Dreaming about Life). A few hours later the death of Michael Jackson reached the news ... It was a very odd and sad day. PS II: like Lore, I find the pedosexual accusations hard to believe. He came across as a bit naive to me (you don't say in the media that you shared a bed with children, even when you didn't do anything remotely physical you know it will be abused by some when you say such things) but he never came across to me as someone who would be capable to hurt anyone. Some of his close friends said that he would just invite children to watch Disney films etc together, or go to a playground, but nothing remotely physical. It is impossible to say which sources are really reliable, but intuition-wise I would believe more that it was indeed very innocent and nothing remotely sexual. I believe as well that one of the boys who accused him (not sure if it was the one from Dev's article or not) described Jackson's naked body, after which it was revealed the description was not even remotely correct. I hope his music will be remembered while those accusations that never were close to being proven hopefully will be forgotten soon.

That would be Jordan Chandler, the boy who allegedly recently claimed it was all a lie.
People prejudged him right off the bat because he was different, and they figured he must be a pedo if he spends that much time with children. What people can't get through their head is that we're all different, and some of us are even more differnet because of psychological issues. ALmost every single friend of Michaels has always said, he's a lot like a child. In my opinion, he was a man on the outside and a child on the inside, and he found comfort in hanging with those who were more like him, which meant children. This was a man who seemed to have no sexual interest in anyone, be it man, woman, child, or animal. And if my theory is right, then thats not a reason to condemn a man. Especially not man who has done tons of humanitarian work, who kicked down obstacles that were in the way when it came to other young african american performers, and who is now getting some credit for even Obama's rise to power. And if my theory is right, those who did prejudge him, they're partially responsible for his death. It would mean those who judged him, judged a perpetual child who couldn't handle all of the false accusations and it could have played a role in his supposed execessive drug usage. What people need to learn from this is that we should let our justice system handle who is guilty and who is innocent. One of the great things about the US is supposed to be that we're innocent until proven guilty, not vice versa. But although so many Americans claim to love this country and its ways, they sure like to ignore the wonderful rights we do have when it suits them. And that's sad. But whatever, we lost a truly talented entertainer. And I don't mean Billy Mays.

I am not sure if it was the same boy we talk about (as several such cases existed) but one went in very lengthy details about Jackson's body, details
going as far as he would be circumcised. This appeared to be false, very easy to uncover such a grotesque lie. There were probably more such details that were
all very clearly false, although I cannot recall them all and some were a bit too gross to discuss anyway. Point is, a lot of the declarations were proven to
be lies, and even without that this doesn't come across like a man who would go through great lengths to have sexual interactions with children. If
anything he came across as someone who emotionally was still a bit of a child, probably the direct result of never having had the chance of a normal youth. A
real pedosexual would not openly admit sleeping with kids and saying it's nothing unnormal, he would try to hide it. Jackson just sounded very sincere when
he said all he wanted to do is offer kids a pleasant time with an amusement park, games, films etc and that there was nothing remotely physical about it.

And to go back on-topic: the Earth Song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8muMo0fw_M Probably his most outspoken environmentalist release. He also was very involved in the anti-racism movement. People will probably remember the song "Black or White" as one of his biggest successes in the nineties, but also in the final days of his career, the last album was dedicated to a young Norwegian boy with black skin who was killed by skinheads. When discussing the new album's release with the press, Jackson took time to stray away from the music and make an explicit anti-racist statement. I doubt many artists would do that rather than to just talk about their album and further career plans... Last news: Janet Jackson has been appointed as curator to take care of Jackson's possessions. The Jackson family will make it a lawsuit as they strongly believe Michael was not given the correct medical treatment that could have saved his life. |
