Religion i believe, is a human invention to control people. You dont need religion to tell you to be a nice person. an afterlife? nah i doubt, once you die thats it...you return to the nothingness but i won't have a problem if im proven wrong on this one! (guess i'll have to wait). a nice quote about this subject:"Death is the state, where one exists only in the memory of others, which is why it is not the end." that we have souls? doesnt make much of a difference to me to be honest evolution? big bang, from star dust to electrochemical machines (also known as humans) aliens? there are around 200 billion solar systems (like our own) in our galaxy, there are several hundreds of billion of galaxies in our universe as scientists calculate. those 2 lead me to the conclusion that aliens do exist. The possibility of planets with same characteristics as earth (who favor the development of life) is huge (based on the fact that there are so many solar systems+galaxies in our universe). Because of such constant posts on this board, this is something that many of us have had to deal with and I would like to get this problem solved so that we, as a community, don't have to deal with such posts any more. Anyway, back to the topic of the discussion: WHY ARE WE ON THIS PLANET.????? Does it matter why? We are here now, so let's make the best of it. do you believe in GOD? This question cannot be answered unless a clear definition of God is provided. To provide a definition we need to understand what God is. However, understanding God means that God can be defined within the limitations of human perception. Such a God I don't believe in, as it is a construction of the human mind, satisfying a specific need, the need to explain the unexplained. I believe that there is existence outside the human domain of understanding, whether that's God or something else is beside the point. I believe that believing is God is unecessary and irrelevant. What is more important is to have a happy and fulfilling life, in harmony and in equilibrium with our natural and social environment. an afterlife? Life keeps me preoccupied enough, so I don't feel the need to consider afterlife. It's out of my control, speculation is pointless, so I'll cross that bridge when the time comes. that we have souls? What is a soul? Define. And does it matter?? We are what we are what we are. Why believe that we are something more? We are a complex mixture of different forms of energy that result to a conscious existence. If the energy changes form or is broken into it's components who knows what happens to concience? evolution? Is there actually a question about it? It is scientifically proven that living organisms evolve through the process of natural selection. What's the counter argument, what is the basis of the contrary?? Any remotely intelligent being who has some theological education understands that the story of Creation is symbolic. At least that what we are tought at school this side of the Atlantic. aliens? As per Erilun's point, the probability of Earth being the only planet with the necessary conditions for life similar to ours to develop is pretty remote. In addition to what Thalia wrote, TwistedDreams has been writing tons of emails to Sean, attempting to get his attention through email and on this board. Sean does NOT know her, has NEVER met her, and has been incredibly kind and polite, in spite of the drama that she has been attempting to create both through email and here. This response is just one of many unwarranted, extraordinarily rude overreactions that she has made to someone on this board. Sean wrote NOTHING rude and was not belittling anyone. He merely answered TwistedDreams questions and she became extraordinarily angry and abusive for NO reason. I am tired of seeing her treat people on this board in this way. She constantly gets irate and writes horrible things, then deletes them. She got all bent out of shape over absolutely nothing. Seriously, NOTHING. As usual. Like Anna has said, she has done this REPEATEDLY, here and by email. Again, I don't even know her! And to be honest and I sick to fucking death of this bullshit. She has tried to cause drama here, by email, and elsewhere and I think it's time she stopped. Like Anna said, it's important this situation be sorted out rather than "dropping it" so it doesn't happen again and so the person responsible learns how to behave, or at least understands that we won't tolerate it anymore. But since we are here - To make a difference and to make the time we are here count for something. Do you believe in God? No. An afterlife? Not really. It's very human to not accept that there's nothing after this life. But I guess that for some it makes it easier to cope with our mortality, and that everything must come to an end eventually. *That we have souls?* No, not really. I believe all lifeforms have something, but not a soul in the traditional sense. Evolution? A fact is a fact is a fact Aliens? I have always thought it to be a bit arrogant to think that this planet is the only one with life in the entire universe. On another note: I find the anger expressed in this thread disturbing really, as it came out of no where and was totally unprovoked. If you can't behave and treat the people here with the respect they deserve and has shown you, you should really stop posting here, imo.

These posts are in chronological order, so you can see that TwistedDreams is very upset one day, then she says that she loves Sean and is friends with the members of this board the next: thanks SO MUCH! that was the SWEETEST thing life sure is funny, the ones you expect to talk with you and help you ,,are actually the ones that ignore you and think "bad ignorant" thoughts. i put this POST up for people to realize that this is a HUGE epidemic and there are ways to help people. ..of all walks of life, no matter your skin color, socio-economic status, etc...i was sick and tired of just reading about politics. i thought that this was an IMPORTANT topic! but i haven't heard from the ones i thought i would. but, you know ..the most important thing is getting help. i am doing that. i am PROUD of myself. Right now it's quite clear that you need professional help. I'm holding myself back so i wouldn't say anything that would make the situation worse but TD, I suggest you stop posting here until you have gotten proper treatment. I (personally) am sick and tired of obsessive people like you who at one point worship the ground that Sean walks on and ten minutes later insult him and the rest of the forum! Then you hide behind your illness and act like nothing's wrong. Just.... take a minute and think about all of this. You can't even handle a simple discussion!
