Now, if she had said she didn't like all the violence, nudity and sex, I could understand that. But to try and play off her personal insecurities as being put off by something "unfeminist" (as she put it) and then write a blog or whatever about it, which then a bunch of other women who haven't watched the show get behind it with a bunch of hoorahs is quite a set back for feminism I think. The girl who wrote the article even went so far to say that since Daenerys army is made up of castrated men, it's saying that she wouldn't be able to command an army of men who have their penis'. It was seriously the most ridiculous piece of writting I've read on the subject and a bunch of girls were just getting behind it saying things like, "I am so glad I've never seen the show and this is why."
I tried explaing the entire GOT world is fucked up, that the unsullied could be seen as genital mutalation against men, that there are two women fighting for the iron throne, that some of the strongest charactors are females, that the show is not about rape there is actually a lot more to the story than that, that the set and wardrobe is amazing as is the score, that what a women wears has nothing to do with feminism, that Mad Men is more sexist than GOT ( I know Mad Men was set in a time of sexism, but for sake of context and argument), etc. etc. They didn't care.
Anyway, I'm just venting here because I didn't want to vent on Facebook and possibly start a big thing in the group. But I was also wanting to hear Sean's ( and anyone else who has seen the show ) thoughts on the matter.
